Designing a SuperAdmin System for an Insurance Platform
Copy of Graudian group logo.png
🔷 1. Context

Guardian Group is an insurance company launching a new operational system that required a centralized SuperAdmin portal to manage policies, bulk coupons, tickets, and hierarchical access control.

The platform consisted of 7 operational modules, with the dashboard serving as the command center.
I was the sole product designer, responsible for structuring the system from scratch.

🔷 2. The Core Problem

The core challenge was structural complexity.

Key issues included:

  • Confusing data hierarchy across modules

  • Dense and unclear table structures

  • Inefficient bulk coupon workflows (import/export handling)

  • Poor representation of operational data

  • Lack of clarity in navigation flow

For a super administrator with full control access, unclear structure increases cognitive load and operational risk.

🔷 3. Constraints

  • 1-month delivery timeline

  • Large dataset dependency provided by client

  • High operational sensitivity (insurance domain)

  • Significant delivery pressure

The solution had to balance clarity with speed of execution.

🔷 4. My Role

As the Product designer, I was responsible for:

  • Designing the complete information architecture

  • Structuring module hierarchy

  • Designing dashboard layout logic

  • Creating bulk coupon workflows

  • Defining data-heavy table patterns

  • Designing reusable UI components

🔷 5. Approach & Key Decisions

Architecture-First Design

Before visual design, I mapped all 7 modules and defined logical relationships to create predictable navigation

Dashboard as Operational Hub

Prioritized system-critical information to reduce scanning time and improve oversight efficiency.

Data Hierarchy Simplification

Restructured dense tables with clearer grouping, spacing, and status indicators to reduce confusion.

Bulk Workflow Structuring

Designed clear import/export flows for coupon management, separating high-impact actions from routine actions.

Permission & Control Clarity

Ensured hierarchical access and role logic supported safe operational control.

🔷 6. Solution

The final system included:

  • Structured left-navigation for modular clarity

  • Clear dashboard overview

  • Reusable table components

  • Status-based visual indicators

  • Controlled bulk action interfaces

  • Scalable design system elements

The system reduced structural ambiguity and supported efficient admin control.

🔷 7. Outcome

  • Improved operational clarity

  • More structured bulk coupon management

  • Reduced confusion in data-heavy environments

  • Better control visibility for superadmin operations

The portal successfully supported insurance workflow management under high data complexity.
